How Plug-N-Track Works

How GPS Tracking Works

How It Works | What You Need To Know | What The Cost Is | Money Back Guarantee

When connected to a vehicle, the Plug-N-TrackTM‘s internal GPS receiver determines its location on the Earth once every second. Then when an ‘event’ occurs such as an update location timer expires, a subscriber requests the current location, a vehicle enters/exists a user defined boundary or maybe an unexpected unsafe driving condition happens, the Plug-N-TrackTM automatically sends this information to a 24/7 web tracking server via the local cellular network.

The Plug-N-TrackTM utilizes the same cellular telephone technology that allows new ‘Smart’ phones like the Blackberry and iPhone to send and receive Internet email messages and browser web pages. But just like cell phone drop calls, the Plug-N-TrackTM‘s operations can be effected by both natural and man-made obstacles such as mountains, tunnels, and parking garages just to name a few. If the cellular coverage is temporarily lost, the Plug-N-TrackTM will hold the information until the next time it can connect to a local cell radio site.

Then using a web browser on a PC with an Internet connection, a subscriber can view the real-time location of a Plug-N-TrackTM, request up to 90-days of history and generate reports based on a driver’s trips. Also when a subscriber is away from a PC, a subscriber can manually request the last known location of a Plug-N-TrackTM and opt to receive autonomous unsafe driving alerts from the web tracking service using their personal cell phone

The Plug-N-TrackTM operates by using a vehicle’s internal communications network known as On-Board Diagnostic Version 2 (OBD II). The OBD II is found on ALL 1996 or newer passenger type cars, trucks and vans. This is the same communications port used by auto mechanics to determine why your “Check Engine” light is on. Please DO NOT purchase the Plug-N-TrackTM if your vehicle is 1995 or older, simple contact us and we can offer alternative GPS tracking devices.

Connecting the Plug-N-TrackTM is as simple as 1, 2, 3

Your local cellular coverage is another important factor. If you live in a rural area or an area known to have a lot of dropped calls then please visit AT&T’s wireless coverage site to determine if you have adequate coverage for your service area.

  1. Go to http://www.wireless.att.com/coverageviewer/
  2. Click on the “Data” tab found above the US map
  3. enter in your location information and click “View Map”, your service area will be inside any shade of blue.

The purchase price of the Plug-N-TrackTM DOES NOT include any monthly service. When a Plug-N-TrackTM is ordered and delivered, the monthly cellular service is suspended until such time the subscriber registers the Plug-N-TrackTM‘s serial number to the web tracking service. Prior to the completion of the registration process, the subscriber will be redirected to Pay Pal’s web site to collect the monthly recurring fee. The monthly web tracking service DOES NOT prorated based on the date of when the Plug-N-TrackTM is registered.

The Plug-N-TrackTM is very small self-contained device that has a one-time cost of $299. In comparison, this would be about the same price as middle of the road radar detector or GPS navigation display such as a Tom-Tom or Garmin.

The Plug-N-TrackTM simple plugs into an existing communication port (OBD II) found inside a vehicle near the drivers legs. So there are NO external antennas to hide, NO power cable assemble to attach and NO installation cost by an professional technician.

The Plug-N-TrackTM DOES require a monthly service that includes both the cellular monthly rate plan and access to the web tracking service via a web-based device such as a cell phone or PC. This recurring monthly web tracking service is $19.99/month per active Plug-N-TrackTM and is billed in advance. Discounts on the monthly web tracking service are available based on the number of additional months paid in advance.

The web tracking service requires NO annual service contract, its month-to-month. There are NO activation fees, NO early termination fees and NO re-activation fees. The monthly web tracking service DOES NOT prorated based on the date of when a Plug-N-TrackTM is deactivated or re-activated. Lastly, there are NO late fees since the monthly web tracking service is paid in advance. The cellular service automatically suspended when no payment is received by the first of each month.

If a Plug-N-TrackTM does not perform per the written descriptions in this web site (not assumptions) then the purchaser can request a refunded of the cost of the Plug-N-TrackTM as long as at least one of the following exceptions DOES NOT apply, which will result in no refund:

  • The request to return a Plug-N-TrackTM is not the original purchaser on the account
  • The request to return a Plug-N-TrackTM was made after 30 consecutive days from the delivery date. The delivery date is calculated from 5 business days after the recorded ship date.
  • The Plug-N-TrackTM is NOT in the same physical condition it was received. NO “normal” wear & tear will be accepted on such a short time period.

Regarding the monthly web tracking service:

  • Once a Plug-N-TrackTM has been registered on to the web tracking service then 100% of the current month’s web tracking service will be forfeited. NO prorating will be made. Any future unused web tracking monthly services that have been collected will be refunded.
  • The Money Back Guarantee policy DOES NOT refund any shipping and handling charges in either direction by either party.
